Our Story
The Glassworks studio was established in 2019. Based around the fused glass work of artist Jonathan Need.
Jonathan started with a small kiln in a workshop at home eventually gaining enough confidence to display and sell his glass work at galleries and artisan markets in North Wales. Within a few months his original designs became so popular a second kiln was added to cope with the demand.
Now with a larger workshop and four kilns Jonathans work is sold throughout the UK and abroad.
In 2023 The Glassworks studio shop was opened in Criccieth, North Wales. Where all Jonathans glasswork is on display.
Fused Glass.
All the fused glass pieces are made from Jonathans original designs.
Each piece of glass is cut by hand. Then combined with various glass powders and ground glass (Frit) to create the individual design. Although we strive for some consistency no two pieces are the same.
Once the glass design is ready it is fired in a kiln for 24 hours at least once but sometimes two or even three times to achieve the final result.
